Images from a Small Space

This series appeared on my original website under the title of The Face in the Room: 522 Bigham Road though no images were ever posted. Like a number of my other series, it is based on the idea of seeing one place intensely over a period of time. In this case the subject is the townhouse in Chatham Village, Pittsburgh, PA where my wife Marty and I have lived for more than 15 years. Among other things, it marks the first time I’ve worked with a digital camera though masked off to match the square mandala-like format of my single lens Rolleiflex.

The photographs are approximately 10” x 10” carbon-pigment images, printed on 13” x 17” archival Somerset Velvet unenhanced watercolor paper.
